Demand rising for medical spas

Dr. Thomas Haas, a plastic surgeon who added a medical spa to his practive last year in a new building on New La Grange Road, said his practice also has seen a growing demand for noninvasive procedures.

Haas, who also has an on-site surgery center at his medical spa, said offering some of the less-invasive beauty treatments is a good way for plastic surgeons to cater to patients who don't want to have surgery.

"Ten years ago, we just didn't have as good stuff as we do now," he said. "Technology has evolved with these different lasers and peels and injectibles that hold off the effects of aging and gravity. If you can get them in here for a few years (for) hair removals and skin procedures, then it is easier to get them to eventuallly sign up for a face procedure or other kind of cosmetic surgery."
