- Q: I have little white bumps under my eyes. They will not come off with cleanser, and I don’t want to scrub that delicate area. What do you think they are? Can I get rid of them?
- A:If you can see small white bumps under your eyes that almost look like whiteheads, chances are they’re milia. Similar to whiteheads, milia have a thin layer of skin that grows over them, making them hard like a cyst and difficult to remove. They form when the skin is unable to naturally exfoliate itself, trapping dead cells. Try using non pore-clogging eye creams or gels. Also, definitely remove any eye make-up before going to bed. This can prevent bacteria and dirt from getting trapped. You may have to have them professionally extracted.
- Q:I have heard that peels are great for clearing up acne and smoothing out the texture of the skin. Is there any other benefits of receiving a chemical peel and how many should you get?
- A:Your right! Chemical peels are absolutely an effective way to clear acne and texture. They also help tremendously with fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and enlarged pores. There are a variety of peels available including salicylic, glycolic, lactic, and TCA, just to name a few. The effect and penetration of chemical peels has to do with their concentration and the amount of time they are left in contact with the skin. The type of peel that you are having dictates if you’ll need just one or a series of treatments and the end result is much smoother, younger-looking skin!
