- Q: As a teenager, I spent too much time in the sun with no SPF protection. Now, of course, my skin is paying for it, especially my chest area! I am starting to see those deep lines on my chest and brown spots that aren't very attractive. Low cut tops are out of the question. Is there any way to reverse the damage that has been done to my skin?
- A: Most of us spent too much time in direct sun during our teens and twenty’s. It's not too late to change your ways and smooth your chest area. First of all, no more sun! Don't head out the door without applying an SPF of at least 20 or higher all over, especially on your chest. You may need to consider a series of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments for the brown spots and laser skin resurfacing treatments like Cutera’s Laser Genesis for deeper lines. Vitamin C products such as SkinCeutical’s Phloretin CF can be used at home to stimulate collagen and elastin production. This will help 'plump' back your skin.
- Q: I am 42 with combination skin. I've got pretty nice (I'd call it normal) skin almost everywhere, but my nose builds up a radical stash of blackheads. Also, every month I tend to break out with a couple pimples. Is there something I could try at home to clear up my skin?
- A: Women of all ages have the same 'pore-clogging' problem. It is very important to exfoliate 1-2 times a week to dissolve dead cells and excess oils in problem areas where they build up. I love the Imaage™ MicroBuff Crème which will smooth the surface without making you red or raw. Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) work wonders in taking off dull skin cell layers while helping you achieve a fresher complexion. Follow with a vitamin C (as anti-aging antioxidants) and hyaluronic acid (for hydration) and you are on your way to clearer skin!
