  • Q: During my teens and twenties I suffered with horrible acne breakouts. I have since cleared my skin using retinoids and receiving regular chemical peels. But, I am left with these noticeable scars on my cheeks, chin, and neck. How can I get rid of the acne scarring?
  • A: First of all, that is great that the Retin-A has cleared up your complexion! I would definitely continue using a Tretinoin-based cream nightly along with a product containing alphahydroxy acids daily. In addition, laser treatments focus directly on “pockmark” or “ice-pick scars” and help build up the collagen again retexturizing the skin. Keep in mind, it may take 3-6 treatments to notice a substantial improvement in the scars and maintenance treatments are usually involved down the road.
  • Q: My hands are getting really dry this winter, to the point they are starting to crack and bleed. This hurts! It usually starts in December and last until February. I don’t want my hand to look so dry and wrinkled, what can I do?
  • A: Dead skin cells build up on the hands, causing them to look dry and dull. Even the nail beds need to be attended to since they’re inclined to become ragged and develop tears and hangnails (then you have bleeding fingernails)! It is very important to gently exfoliate your hands several times a week removing the dead, white skin. Then, apply a creamy hand moisturizer several times a day. I always keep a sample-sized hand cream in my purse, so I never have to experience dry hands!
