FAQ's for Breast Lift and Augmentation
Patients will frequently ask over the phone about lifts and/or augmentations. Most patients seem to know that they need a lift, and they are not usually surprised when Dr. Haas informs them so during their consultation. Of course, without seeing the patient, it can be difficult to give patients precise financial figures.
Some guidelines are:
- If your nipple is below the crease under your breast, you probably need a lift.
- The lower your breast, or the more lift you need, the more incisions will be made to reshape your breast...this means more scars.
- Adding an implant will probably make the incisions required less, thus less scar. Dr. Haas will help the patient decide if the scars are a good trade for a better shape and size.
- Where will my surgery be performed?
- You have a choice. We have a certified surgery suite in our office, and we do breast lifts and augmentations here hundreds of times per year. Imaage® is the only plastic surgery office with a JCAHO-accredited in-office surgery suite. Your surgery experience will be very private and luxurious. We only do cosmetic surgery, so the staff you meet on your first visit will be with you throughout.
- For some patients, such as those with medical conditions or if they prefer, Dr. Haas has privileges at local hospitals for your surgery.
- What type of anesthesia will be used?
- A combination of local anesthesia and IV sedation is used in our surgery suite. This is under the care of an anesthetist that we have used for years. You will not feel or remember anything, but you do not need general anesthesia.
- When can I resume normal activities?
- Everyone heals differently, but as a guideline...two weeks to exercize, and about 4 weeks to 95% recovered.
- What are some of the risks of breast surgery?
- Every surgical procedure has risks. Infection, reaction to medication, bleeding are a few of these. You will be fully informed of all possible risks during your pre-op visits.
- How sore will I be?
- Of course everyone is different and their response to surgery will different. Dr Haas wants you to have as pleasant an experience as possible. We use the 'On-Q' pain pump a lot to eliminate about 90% of the soreness. All this is of course discussed with you at your consultation.
- How much does this surgery cost?
- It can be difficult to give an exact figure over the phone before we see you. Most augmentations have a pretty standard fee, and we can generally give these to you over the phone. Lifts can be more difficult to estimate without seeing you...a small lift costs less than a full lift. Dr. Haas wants you to be as informed as possible, so he will discuss your options during your consultation.
- These fees are all inclusive and we do the procedure here. Be aware that if you are calling around for quotes to compare apples to apples...some offices will give surgeon fees only and not mention hospital/anesthesia charges.
- Payment options
- We have a variety of payment choices for you, including cash, check, credit card, or financing options. Refer to our finance links to easily apply for financing.
